Gold Lip is a luminous mother of pearl mosaic made from the iridescent inner layer of shell, celebrated for its ever-changing optical shimmer and warm golden tones, with each piece naturally unique in pattern and shade.

Mother of pearl has been prized for centuries in jewellery and decorative arts because it does not simply reflect light, it refracts it, creating depth, movement, and a soft radiance that feels unmistakably luxurious. As a natural material, variation is part of the beauty: no two mosaics will present exactly the same swirl, tonality, or iridescent play.

Shells are composed primarily of calcium carbonate, and the surface of this mosaic is protected with a thin polyurethane top coat. Natural shell is completely waterproof and will not be damaged by water contact, however the finish can be ruined or stained by acidic substances and cleaners such as vinegar, wine, champagne, lemon juice, or acid-based products.

All of our mother of pearl mosaics are produced using shell species that are not protected by the Washington Convention, and they are not treated with oils derived from cetaceans. Many items within this family are developed from our own ideas and are exclusive to Studio Vega, including selected inlays, formats, bath accessories, washbasins, door handles, and decorative applications.

Recommended for decorative interior use only. Bespoke options are available, and any series can be adapted to suit the client’s taste or request and produced on demand.
