Black Lip Mother of Pearl is prized for its deep, smoky iridescence - shifting between charcoal, olive, silver and oil-slick blues as the light moves across its surface. Cut into refined brick-format tesserae , this mosaic creates a rhythmic, architectural field that feels both contemporary and timeless.

Mother of Pearl is the innermost layer of the shell, composed of approximately 95 percent calcium carbonate. Each piece is naturally unique, with slight variations in tone and pattern - no two tiles can ever be identical, and no shade can be preset due to its natural optical depth.

The mosaic surface is protected with a thin polyurethane top coat. While the shell itself is naturally waterproof, it should not come into contact with acidic substances such as vinegar, wine, champagne, lemon juice or acid-based cleaners.

All Mother of Pearl used is sourced from non-protected shell species and complies with international regulations. No oils derived from cetaceans are used in production.
