Eel Skin Lacquer Panel
A lacquered eel-skin surface with a deep, burnished warmth, where irregular overlaps and hand-cut edges create a shimmering patchwork that feels part leather, part patinated .

This panel is composed from eel skins laid in an intentionally irregular arrangement, with visible overlaps and varied cut shapes that give the surface its character. Under a clear lacquer top coat, the natural texture reads fine and linear, with a subtle ribbed grain that catches light like brushed , while the colour sits in a rich spectrum of rust, tobacco and -brown with darker shadowing in the seams.

The clear lacquer amplifies depth and sheen, highlighting the natural variation between skins and creating a surface that shifts as you move past it. The patchwork construction is not meant to be perfectly uniform - slight discrepancies in alignment, edge rhythm, and tonal change are part of the crafted look and should be embraced rather than “corrected”.

Best suited to vertical applications such as feature walls, cabinetry cladding, bar fronts, door panels, headboards and niche backings in dry interior settings. Specify gentle cleaning only and avoid abrasives, as lacquered skin finishes can scratch. For higher-contact areas, confirm a project-appropriate protective lacquer system and edge detailing to preserve the finish long term.
