Medievalissimo draws inspiration from the Champagne region’s great medieval fairs, where decorative motifs travelled across Europe and found their way into cathedrals, manor houses, and civic buildings. Using an engraving-like approach, artisans created bold imagery with simple, confident linework, then relied on the chemistry of clay and firing to bring depth, tone, and surface character.
This tile features a crowned figure in warm ochre, set inside a circular frame with quatrefoil corner details. The dark ground is alive with subtle speckling and natural variation, while the gently irregular edges and glaze pooling add to its authentic, handmade feel. Use it as a single statement, a framed panel, or part of a repeating narrative field.
De Ferranti also offers a marbled tile influenced by this period, for projects seeking a more tonal, material-led interpretation of the same medieval spirit.
