Pal 27 is a hand-painted terracotta tile inspired by the medieval Palio traditions of Italy, using royal blue, caramello and charcoal on an off-white ground to create a woven, parquet-like geometry with a bright, celebratory rhythm.

The pattern is constructed from interlocking “planks” that read like a ceramic basketweave or herringbone illusion, giving the surface structure and movement without feeling busy. Royal blue brings freshness, caramello adds warmth, and charcoal linework sharpens the geometry, keeping the overall composition crisp and architectural.

Hand painting gives each segment tonal depth and subtle variation, so the repeat feels lively and artisanal rather than flat or printed. When laid across a larger area, the design creates a beautifully ordered field with the charm of historic Italian decoration and a distinctly contemporary edge.
