From De Ferranti’s Islamic Tile category, this piece leans into the storytelling side of Islamic ceramic tradition - stylised nature, patterned framing, and hand-painted character. The central star cartouche is filled with multiple fish in layered reds, browns, and blues, each outlined and detailed to give individuality and movement. Small aquatic plants and floral bursts punctuate the scene, adding rhythm and balance across the pale ground.
A fine ornamental band traces the star’s edge, tightening the composition before it opens into the outer border: a luminous blue field with white scrolling foliage and mirrored flourishes at the corners. The palette is cooler and more nuanced than the cobalt version, with soft blue washes, ink-like linework, and a slightly antique feel that suits both traditional and eclectic interiors.
Ideal as a feature tile, inset panel, or part of a larger decorative scheme, and available for bespoke commissions with adapted colourways, scenes, or border treatments.
