Red Porphyry & Green Serpentine Border – Axe Head Tessellation

We produly present the De Ferranti red porphyry tessellation. A bold two-stone border combining rare red porphyry with richly veined green serpentine, cut into repeating axe head modules for a rhythmic, graphic edge detail. This border is built from interlocking axe head shapes – broad, curved heads that meet point to point to form a continuous chain across the run. The geometry is simple but powerful, reading almost like a woven band when repeated, with the curves creating movement without becoming ornate. Red porphyry brings density, depth and an imperial richness, while green serpentine adds dramatic natural veining and energy, creating a high-contrast composition that feels both antique and sharply architectural. Ideal for framing floors, outlining a central stone rug, defining thresholds, or introducing a strong perimeter band around larger stone fields. As with all natural stone, expect variation in tone and veining, with sequencing available on request for longer runs.

Red Porphyry Tessellation with Green Serpentine

Red Porphyry & Green Serpentine Border – Axe Head Tessellation has a bold contrast, pairing deep red stone modules with a dark green serpentine ground. The repeated axe head forms create a linked, almost woven rhythm, giving the border strong direction while keeping the pattern compact and controlled.

This red porphyry tessellation is suited to interiors where a floor, wall band, tabletop or framed stone composition needs colour, geometry and rare material character. The contrast between porphyry and serpentine gives the piece a strong decorative presence, but the interlocking repeat keeps it disciplined enough for perimeter work, thresholds and panel framing.

Within the De Ferranti borders collection, this product sits close to hardstone inlay and patterned stone work. Designers considering related material directions may also wish to explore Semi-Precious Tile & Slab, – Pierre Dure and the related Axe Head Border in Black and Burnt Red Stone.
