Create a luxurious dark, moody toned and textural border frame around your floor to lift and personalise it to your taste. This unique patterned border is inspired by tiles often seen in Medieval Churches. It is fashioned from Pietra Nera, Yellow Terracotta and Red Terracotta, and Sage Stone over a cement base, ensuring that the border is not only stable and sound, but also easy to install. Totally handcut and hand assembled, this is a truly handmade product. No border is the same, as the artist’s hand is vital in creating natural nuances within each interlocking piece. Thicknesses can be 1cm or 2cm or to order, as can the border widths and material combinations. All the De Ferranti borders are fully customisable.
Quattrofoglie Border Medievale has a strong repeating structure, with circular medallions containing four leaf-like forms set against a dark Pietra Nera ground. Yellow and red terracotta bring warmth into the composition, while sage green panels soften the contrast and give the border an aged, quality. The design feels ordered and historic, but still lively because of the handcut surface variation.
This medieval quatrefoil border is suited to projects where a floor, wall or threshold needs a decorative motif with darker contrast and old-world character. It can be used to frame a stone floor, define a perimeter band, outline a fireplace surround or introduce a repeated medieval-inspired detail into a wider interior composition, subject to final specification and installation method.
Within the De Ferranti borders collection, Quattrofoglie Border Medievale sits close to dark stone and terracotta-led border work. Designers considering related directions may also wish to explore the Paralello Border, Quattrofoglie Border Terra and Medieval Heraldic & Bestiary Tiles.
