For a private riverfront residence in Istanbul, Turkey, De Ferranti supplied and installed a large-scale river pebble mosaic across the terrace and connecting garden paths. Designed as an outdoor “carpet” in stone, the work brings pattern, movement and craftsmanship to the landscape, while remaining practical for everyday exterior living.

The installation is formed from hand-selected river pebbles, set in a flowing ornamental composition that combines sweeping curves, scrolling motifs and structured border bands. The palette moves between pale natural pebbles and darker accents, creating strong graphic definition while keeping the surface rooted in natural materials.

nExecuted across multiple zones, the pebblework unifies the outdoor architecture - guiding circulation through the garden and giving the terrace a distinct sense of place. Underfoot, the rounded stones offer natural grip and a tactile comfort in warm weather, while the dense, hand-laid setting ensures durability in an exposed riverside environment.

nSupplied and installed by De Ferranti, this Istanbul commission demonstrates the studio’s ability to deliver complex, site-specific pebble mosaics at scale, where design, material selection and installation precision must align to achieve a seamless final result.
