For a seafront, Palladian-inspired private villa in The Hamptons, New York, De Ferranti was entrusted directly by the client to deliver a fully bespoke Cosmati-style stone pavement - from concept and design through fabrication and on-site installation. The result is a classical, highly crafted floor that anchors the architecture with historic geometry, rich colour and enduring permanence.

This custom Cosmati pavement was designed as a centred geometric composition with a circular medallion, radiating rings and patterned borders, built from carefully selected stones and marbles in a refined, heritage palette. The layout combines crisp white grounds with dark central stone and intricate inserts in warm reds, greens and charcoal tones, creating the kind of architectural “carpet” associated with historic Italian pavements and grand civic interiors.

nWorking directly with the client, De Ferranti managed the full process: detailed design development, stone selection, cutting and fabrication of complex geometric elements, and precise installation to ensure the geometry reads cleanly and the borders align perfectly with the surrounding architecture. The pavement was one of many bespoke items supplied across the property, reflecting a wider brief centred on craftsmanship, longevity and classical proportion.
