The Joplin hexagonal flower tile belongs to Woodstock, a collection of vibrant terracotta tile designs inspired by the energy and creativity of the 1970s. Its compact six-sided format contains a single stylised bloom, giving the design the clarity of an emblem while retaining the softened variation of hand-painted majolica.

A deep brick-red ground frames a fan of mauve petals that radiate from an ochre centre. Below, two broad cream forms flank a narrow ochre stem, while fine crackle and tonal shifts remain visible across the glazed surface. The simple division between flower, stem and lower shapes gives Joplin a strong frontal presence. It can read as a single decorative object, but repeated hexagons turn the isolated bloom into a continuous graphic field.

For a second hexagonal interpretation, Serenity uses a cooler blue field and a more open radiating flower.
