This bronze onyx ibis sculpture is a reproduction figure of an ibis, seated with feet splayed and head erect, with markings on the legs and tail feathers finely engraved. The De Ferranti model references an ancient Egyptian prototype dated in the existing collection description to 716-30 BC. Its metal surfaces are carefully patinated to a bronze finish with hints of verdigris, while the pale onyx body introduces a smooth mineral contrast. The long curved beak, compact seated posture and engraved plumage give the object a recognisable silhouette without overworking the stone. It forms part of De Ferranti’s Objects of Desire collection.
