Libeccio Policromo
Libeccio Policromo, also known as Libeccio Antico Policromo or Libeccio di Custonaci, is a rare historic Sicilian marble from the Custonaci marble district in western Sicily. Celebrated for its intense polychrome movement, this richly decorative stone combines deep red, oxblood, ochre, ivory, yellow, green and darker mineral tones in a dramatic fractured composition. Rather than being primarily associated with Roman antiquity, Libeccio Policromo is most strongly documented from the medieval period onwards, later becoming one of the great ornamental stones of Sicilian Renaissance and Baroque architecture. Its colour, density and theatrical movement made it especially valued for churches, noble palaces, altars, columns, inlay, wall linings and prestigious architectural interiors, with historic references connecting Libeccio Antico Policromo to important works including St Peter’s Basilica in Rome and the Royal Palace of Caserta.
With its rare Sicilian provenance, ecclesiastical history and powerful decorative presence, Libeccio Policromo is especially suited to luxury interiors, statement panels, bathrooms, fireplace surrounds, furniture, decorative slabs and projects where rare marbles, historic provenance and expressive natural colour are essential.
