Breccia Verde d’Egitto
Breccia Verde d’Egitto, also known as Breccia Universale or Lapis Hecatontalithos, is one of the great rare historic marbles of the ancient world. Quarried at Wadi Hammamat in Egypt’s Eastern Desert, this extraordinary green breccia was prized by the Romans for its remarkable mixture of many different stone fragments, giving rise to its ancient name, often translated as “stone of a hundred stones.” Its deep green matrix, animated by rounded and irregular clasts of green, white, yellow, red, brown and occasional granite tones, creates a richly archaeological surface with exceptional depth and movement. Used in antiquity for columns, veneers and prestigious decorative works, Breccia Verde d’Egitto belongs to the world of luxury ancient marbles where geology, empire and architecture overlap.
Today it is an exceptionally scarce collector’s stone, suited to statement panels, bathrooms, fireplace surrounds, furniture, decorative slabs and interiors where rare marbles, historic provenance and visual authority are essential.
