This floral quatrefoil tile sets a bold botanical medallion within a softly lobed frame, painted in saturated turquoise, blue, green and warm gold. Ornamental, balanced and made to anchor a patterned scheme, it combines a clear centre with controlled movement.
A stylised flower and scrolling foliage radiate through a symmetrical, compass-like layout. The turquoise ground lifts the composition, while the crisp internal frame gives the tile a finished, panel-like quality once installed. Hand-painted variation in the glaze keeps the colour active and prevents the motif from appearing flat or printed.
Use it as a single feature tile, a repeating field for fuller decorative impact, or as the centre of a framed panel mixed with plain ceramics. It is suited to splashbacks, bathrooms, niches, fireplace surrounds, bar fronts and stair risers. Part of the Signature Series, De Ferranti’s curated collection of artisan patterned ceramic tiles.
The quatrefoil softens the square module without losing its central axis. In a group, the eye may read individual medallions or the secondary diamonds and floral fragments created between them. Compare it with the more open Floral Composition Tile and the disciplined repeat of the Leaf Lattice Tile before choosing the desired degree of formality.
A minimum four-tile dry layout of the floral quatrefoil tile will reveal rotation, border alignment and the role of the grout joint. A joint close to the pale internal field can preserve the medallion, while stronger contrast emphasises each square. Use plain glazed ceramics or calm stone around the patterned area to prevent competition. The geometry has affinities with historic Portuguese tiles and azulejos, while raised-relief tiles and mouldings offer related medallion and rosette forms expressed through depth. Review multiple samples for tonal and brush variation, and confirm the intended application before specification.
