Sintra Collection – King Sebastian Grape Leaf Azulejo
Inspired by the historic azulejos in the Bedchamber of King Sebastian at the National Palace of Sintra, the Sintra Collection - King Sebastian Grape Leaf Azulejo draws from one of Portugal’s most evocative decorative tile traditions.

This Portuguese tile design takes its cue from early 16th-century Mudéjar-Renaissance azulejos, where raised relief, hand-glazed surfaces and architectural symbolism work together with extraordinary richness. The central motif features a raised grape leaf, set within a softly framed tile field and finished in tones of green, teal, ivory and deep mineral glaze.

The original wall composition is framed by a border containing the globe motif, a symbol closely associated with Manueline architecture and Portugal’s Age of Discovery. Reinterpreted for contemporary interiors, this design offers a deeply historic Portuguese tile language suited to feature walls, bathrooms, fireplace surrounds, decorative panels and heritage-led interiors.

Irregular glaze movement, relief texture and tonal variation give each tile an aged, crafted quality, echoing the atmosphere of Sintra’s royal interiors rather than the flatness of modern mass production. This is a tile for projects seeking history, romance and architectural depth.
