The Lucia green terracotta tile is made and painted by hand in a Southern Italian artisan studio, with complex white decoration flowing across an aged green ground. De Ferranti records the pattern as Sicilian in origin and 19th century in character. Four tiles complete the repeat, allowing the curved linework to develop into a larger floral and geometric composition.

The green field gives the white ornament a botanical quality without turning the design into a literal flower study. Slight tonal shifts within the background, softened edges and irregular brush density reveal the handmade process. The deliberately aged tile body is part of the intended finish, helping the repeated surface feel established rather than mechanically uniform.

Within the collection, Lucia Olive Green and White offers the same fluid structure in a more muted earth tone, while Leonarda Green and White provides a different Sicilian repeat with stronger geometric order. Beyond Italianate, Forest Moss MC34 can act as a deeper plain green companion, and Neisha Crosland’s Marigold in Bean Green introduces climbing botanical movement on the same type of handmade Sicilian terracotta biscuit.

Green Sicilian Tile for Floors and Walls

Lucia Green can be considered for floors, walling, bathrooms, kitchens, staircases, fireplace surrounds, tabletops, hospitality interiors and selected warm-climate exterior applications, subject to project guidance. The full four-tile motif should be reviewed before installation, particularly where the pattern meets corners, thresholds or cabinetry. Samples will also show how the aged green ground responds to surrounding plaster, stone, timber and metal finishes under the project’s lighting.
