Tutankhamun Paddles – Turquoise Ceramic with Red Jasper Inlay

These turquoise ceramic tiles with jasper form the brighter, lighter and beautifully kinetic edition of De Ferranti’s Tutankhamun-inspired design. Glossy turquoise paddles interlock in a repeating field, each one inlaid with dusty and polished red jasper for a warm, earthy counterpoint.

This design is built from rounded paddle motifs that stack and overlap like scales, creating a dense, decorative rhythm with strong Art and Antiquity references. The turquoise glaze sits between sky and sea tones, with subtle tonal shifts that keep the surface alive under light. Pale outlining between motifs sharpens the geometry and gives the pattern a crisp, crafted finish.

Within each paddle, chevron-like inserts of red jasper introduce depth and contrast – brick, russet, and oxblood notes with natural speckling and mineral variation. The mix of ceramic gloss and stone texture creates a layered tactile experience: smooth, luminous turquoise, then the grain and matte-polished interplay of jasper.

A striking choice for feature walls, splashbacks, and statement sections where colour, pattern, and materiality are meant to carry the space.

Designing with Turquoise Ceramic Tiles with Jasper

The staggered paddle arrangement creates a compact, scale-like surface that can be read either as a continuous decorative field or as a contained ceramic panel. Turquoise brings a fresher and more luminous character than the deeper royal blue colourway, while the red jasper inserts retain the design’s earthy counterbalance. Variations within the glaze and stone should be reviewed through a representative sample, particularly where the surface will be viewed under strong directional light.

Supplied by Frozen Music, this composition can be compared with the royal blue Tutankhamun Paddles. Projects exploring a different interpretation of Egyptian-inspired modular design may also consider the Pharaonic Cast Copper Mosaic, while further sculptural ceramic surfaces can be found within the Ceramic Art – Panels, Sculptural Forms & Modules collection.

Layout, Samples and Installation

Before specification, establish the direction of the paddle repeat, panel dimensions, perimeter treatment and relationship with adjoining materials. A trial layout can help assess the distribution of turquoise tones, jasper variation, joint colour and the visual effect of cut modules at edges and corners.

The published information does not provide dimensions, weight, water absorption or slip-performance data. Substrate preparation, fixing materials, waterproofing, movement provision and any fireplace or exterior requirements should therefore be confirmed for the intended application. Warm-climate exterior use is listed, but general frost resistance should not be assumed.
