Composing Cross-Cultural Ceramic Tiles

The collection brings together portrait fragments, stylised figures, fish-scale ornament, floral medallions, geometric borders and painted inscriptions in a varied palette of cobalt blue, turquoise, ochre, green and warm ivory. Differences in shape, edge condition, glaze depth and surface marking add to its studied, collected character rather than forcing the pieces into a uniform decorative system.
