The brass cog border product brings sand-cast metal detail into a warm stone field, creating a distinctive decorative frame for floors, feature areas and interior surfaces. Brass cogs are inlaid into burnt sandstone with black stone and yellow sandstone highlights, giving the piece a strong graphic rhythm with a crafted, mechanical character.

Border or frame a floor, create a central carpet or define a feature area with this unique cogwheel patterned tile. As these borders are gently ground and polished by hand, there is a gentle surface undulation impossible to reproduce by machine.

Each cog is sand cast, ground flat and polished, then gently inlaid into the stone. Supplied over a stone base, the border is stable, sound and easier to install. Totally hand-cut and hand assembled, it is a truly handmade product. No border is exactly the same, as the artist’s hand is vital in creating natural nuances within each unique piece.

Thicknesses can be 2 cm or made to order, as can the border widths and material combinations. All De Ferranti borders are fully customisable. The current finish is polished.

Brass Cog Border with Burnt Sandstone and Black Stone

The strength of this brass cog border lies in the contrast between warm sandstone, dark stone and polished brass. The circular cog motifs sit within black square inserts, creating a repeated medallion rhythm across the length of the border. The result is bold, structured and slightly industrial, but softened by the handmade surface and the warm mineral tone of the stone.

It can be considered for floor borders, framed stone carpets, tabletop detailing, furniture, walling, restaurants, kitchens, yachts and other interior applications where a decorative border needs both warmth and precision.
