Bone Floral Inlay – Fleur

Bone inlay work is a traditional craft practised throughout the Middle East and India. De Ferranti works with an historic Indian workshop to develop decorative inlaid panels which can be used on walls and floors or as detailing in furniture. The pure geometric patterns have special impact in monochrome.

Bone Floral Inlay with Circular Repeat

This bone floral inlay panel uses a repeating circular structure to organise the pale bone motifs across a warm bleached teak ground. Each roundel contains stylised petals, with smaller connecting circles creating a linked geometric rhythm across the surface. The result is decorative, ordered and quietly intricate.

Fleur has a softer character than a strict chequer or diamond pattern. The design is still precise, but the repeated floral forms give it a more lyrical quality. The contrast between the pale bone and the natural timber makes the pattern clear without becoming severe, while the grain of the teak adds warmth and movement behind the inlay.

As a bone floral inlay, Fleur is particularly suitable where a designer wants ornament, craft and surface detail in a controlled repeat. It can work as a wall panel, cabinet face, tabletop, door insert, screen, ceiling panel or bespoke furniture detail, subject to specification and intended use.
